Curtins

Curtins are an award winning consultancy working within the built environment sector, specialising in Structural and Civil Engineering but also providing services in Transport Planning, Geotechnical Enineering and Conservation and Heritage. 

  • Suitable for year groups - KS1 & KS2
  • Duration - 30mins - 1 hour
  • Location - in school
  • Capacity - Single class for workshops, larger groups for talks
  • Gatsby Benchmarks - 4 and 5

Curtins can offer a range of opportunities including:

  • Careers talk and Q&A – discussing the different aspects of the built environment including the job roles of Structural Engineer, Civil Engineer, Transport Planner, Geotechnical Engineer & Technician. All talks will involve discussions around sustainability and how they ensure projects are green.
  • Careers workshop – a workshop about the various careers within the build environment and the progression routes

Book Curtins

Lendlease

Lendlease is a multinational construction, property and infrastructure company. They are offering workshops to introduce young people to the many different job roles across the built environment.

North London Heat and Power Project

North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP) is a large scale construction project to modernise the Edmonton EcoPark recycling facility. The existing plant has served north London well for nearly 50 years, and has diverted more than 21 million tonnes of the non-recyclable waste which would otherwise have gone to landfill.

  • Suitable for year groups - Reception - Y6 (Dependent on session)
  • Duration - 45 mins
  • Location - in school
  • Capacity - approx 30 students
  • Gatsby Benchmarks - 4 and 5

NLHPP can offer a range of opportunities including:

  • Interactive workshop: Energy from waste - introduce students to the concept of producing energy from waste, including comparisons to other sources of energy and its environmental and climate benefits (for Key Stage 2 only).

  • Interactive workshop: Day in the life at the NLHPP- To introduce students to the variety of jobs involved in a large scale construction project (for Key Stage 1 and 2)
